Less Is More:

Reducing Carbon Emissions

By 2030, the EU aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 % (compared to 1990); as an international alliance, we are already making a significant contribution to this today. During the past few years, we have made major investments in the use of renewable energies, which are increasingly replacing fossil energy sources.

Solar panels provide our production plants with clean energy and play a key role in our energy supply. Unavoidable carbon emissions are reduced through the use of innovative technology and intelligent logistics to prevent empty runs. You can find specific details of our standards and a practical example on this page.

Our new sustainability report is here. Download it now.

“Higher investment costs for renewable energies pay off in the long run, as the investment costs are offset by avoided fossil fuels and CO2 costs.”

At the FEPA Mezzani plant (Cart-One): a 1.2 MW trigeneration plant is in operation which, together with the existing 1 MW photovoltaic plant self-sufficient in terms of electricity consumption.

At SADA (Cart-One): in 2011 we installed the photovoltaic power plants. 11.270 panels with total coverage of 30.000 m² and for 2,7 MW. This commitment helps us avoid the emission of 0,6 g CO2 per kW in the environment.

At Hinojosa: new biomass boiler has been commissioned at Cartonajes Bernabeu, which will contribute to generating cleaner energy at the plant.

At VPK Group: at the Alizay site, VPK plans to produce wood pellets, some 120.000 tonnes per year. These save as much as 120.000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

At Klingele: 219 GWh of electricity generated from renewable sources in 2022. Klingele invests in a variety of renewable energy sources, including solar, biomass, hydropower, and wind turbine and power plants.
